Bronco Trail Ratings

Every UBC-led run is classified on the 1–10 scale below — the club’s official trail difficulty standard. Know your rig’s real capability before you sign up, and ask a trail leader if you’re not sure a rating matches your build.

● Beginner Friendly — Ratings 1–3

1

County Road

Maintained for high clearance, adverse conditions

County dirt road maintained for high-clearance 2WD and 4WD use in adverse conditions.

2

Light-Duty 4WD

Infrequent maintenance after rain or snow

County dirt road with infrequent or light maintenance. High-clearance, light-duty 4WD required.

3

Entry Trail

Loose rock, dirt, sand, some slickrock

Mud holes possible, no steps higher than 12″. 4WD required; 33″ tires a plus.

● Moderate — Ratings 4–6

4

Erosion, washes, and steps to 18″

4WD and 33″ tires required (35″ a plus). Enhanced suspension travel and good ground clearance helpful. Good driving skills a plus.

5

4WD, 33″ tires, and a working traction-adding device required (35″ tires a plus). Above-average driving skills desirable; a winch is a plus.

6

● Difficult & Extreme — Ratings 7–10

7

Difficult

Steps over 48″, steep inclines

Locking diffs front & rear, 35″ tires, max ground clearance, and tow hooks required. Vehicle damage likely; rollover possible.

8

Very Difficult

Extreme — same as 7, plus 37″ tires

Excellent driving skills required. Vehicle damage likely; rollover possible.

9

Extreme

Steps over 60″, off-camber sections

Working front & rear lockers, 37″–40″ tires, winch, tow hooks, 100″ min. wheelbase. Rollover common — bring spare parts and tools.

10

Buggy Territory

Let the carnage begin

Street-driven 4x4s should not attempt this. Modified factory rigs will not complete this trail.
