Group Rides & Trail Leaders

Per UBC’s Event & Trail Policy, a trail leader isn’t just “whoever’s up front.” They’re a member in good standing who’s assisted on prior runs, been recommended by another leader or officer, and is formally designated by the Board. During an event, that authority is real: they run the safety briefing, assign groups, adjust the route, and can remove a rig from the run if safety requires it.

Before the Ride

  • Read the event description completely — difficulty rating, location, timing.
  • Confirm your rig is in good working order, and complete any required waiver ahead of time.
  • Top off fuel and bring water and snacks.
  • Arrive on time at the meetup spot — we usually can’t hold the group long.

Driver Meeting

  • We’ll introduce the trail leader and any tail/sweep for the run.
  • We’ll review the route, expected conditions, hand signals, and radio channel.
  • This is your chance to flag anything — new driver, stock rig, concerns about the rating.

On the Trail

  • Stay in line and keep reasonable spacing.
  • Don’t pass other rigs unless directed by the trail leader.
  • If you’re uncomfortable with an obstacle, say so — we’ll talk through options. A bypass or turnaround is always fine, and only one person spots you at a time.

After the Run

  • Quick walk-around for anything loose or damaged; air up and torque lugs if needed.
  • Share feedback and photos with the group — it shapes future events.

Want More Seat Time?

Ford runs its own off-road driving school, Bronco Off-Roadeo, now open to the public at several locations — a solid option if you want structured practice before a harder-rated UBC run.

Utah Bronco Club (UBC) is a DBA of Utah Bronco Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
