Offline Maps & Navigation
Cell service disappears fast once you leave pavement. Whatever app you use, the habit matters more than the tool.
The Habits That Matter
- Download map areas at home on Wi-Fi — not at the trailhead with one bar left.
- Save key waypoints: meetup spot, trailhead, major junctions.
- Carry a backup — a second app, a second device, or a paper map.
If You're Running the Bronco Trail App
It ships with roughly 1,200 professionally curated off-road trail maps across the US, Canada, and Mexico, downloadable for offline use with turn-by-turn routing and marked points of interest. It’s a solid option — but the habits above apply no matter which app you’re on.
Know Where You're Allowed to Be
- Not every faint two-track is a legal route. Look for designated motorized-route layers where your app supports them.
- Respect private property, fences, and signed closures.
On Group Runs
- Know the general area — canyon name, major road — not just “follow the truck in front.”
- If you need to peel off early, say so clearly on the radio.
